DR Manisha Cooper - medical review of MUTU System

DR MANISHA COOPER

NHS General Practitioner. Clinical Director, Out of Hours Service, Cornwall

“I am a mum to 3 sons – 2 of whom are now adults but all of whom as we know stay my kids forever. I’ve known Wendy Powell for some time now and am really pleased and impressed with the work she does through MUTU and how much it can help women. As a GP it is really difficult to know where to point new and not so new mums for help with regards to all sorts of problems from abdominal and pelvic pain to incontinence, lower back pain or bowel or sexual issues. The principle behind MUTU is fantastic as it covers the whole world of being a woman – it talks about our physical and mental well being and through the programme covers diet, exercise and even how to bring your confidence back. This will apply to all women – not just new mums but even peri-menopausal and menopausal women. It is a great way to get your confidence and body back where you want it to be.”

NIAMH BURN (Bsc. Hons MSCP SRP)

Pregnancy and Postnatal Physiotherapist at Maternity Physio

“As a Physiotherapist who solely treats pregnant and postnatal women for common postnatal conditions, the MUTU system really ticks all the boxes for me. Women can feel confident that they are following a safe and effective program which has their care very much in mind. There are reminders of what to look out for when things don’t feel right and when to seek professional help. I love the fact it includes some great modifications for typical pregnancy and postnatal related conditions such as pelvic girdle pain and pelvic organ prolapse. There are also lots useful stretches for tight hips and upper back which should suit the usual new mum aches and even has some meditation in there to calm the busy mind. I also loved the constant referral to breathing properly and alignment which is key to connecting with your PF and deep abdominals. Lucy Allen | Medical review of MUTU System

Lucy Allen

Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Harley Street, London.

“The MUTU system is a fantastic programme for women suffering from diastasis recti and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. As a Women’s Health Physiotherapist the MUTU holistic package covers all of the key aspects I go through with my post natal ladies and its refreshing to see a programme that incorporates pelvic floor in core conditioning! Following an assessment and treatment plan in clinic I recommend the MUTU system as a progression back in to exercise and it’s great that it can be done at home. The information MUTU provides is so simple and easy to follow, providing women with the confidence to start exercising again safely. As a clinician its great to have a programme that I can recommend to clients that can really help them achieve their goals of getting back to feeling like themselves again.”
Jan Llewellyn | Medical Review of MUTU System

Jan Llewellyn

Bsc Mental Health Nursing, Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation teacher.

“Wendy has created an effective, evidence-based recovery programme that helps women heal from these common post-natal conditions diastasis recti and pelvic floor dysfunction, in a holistic way. This programme supports women to re-connect and feel at home within their bodies again. The private support community gives women a place to share their experiences with other women – vitally important in reducing isolation and shame and enhancing connection and wellbeing. A big Thank you to Wendy for creating this incredible resource, on behalf of all the people you are helping, including the infants, who will benefit from having a happier Mum.”

“Wendy’s system is based on sound principles and is a great start for women keen to restore their abdominal function with a view to getting back to being active. It’s safe and certainly something I’d recommend for women with diastasis.”

Camilla Lawrence | Medical Review of MUTU System

CAMILLA LAWRENCE B.SC (HONS),
MCSP, MPOGP

Senior Women's Health Physiotherapist at Six Physio in London

“At last – a safe, fun, achievable and most importantly effective exercise program for Mums that really covers all the bases. Wendy’s passion and expertise shine through the whole program, she really knows her stuff, is refreshingly honest and a great motivator. Women’s Health Physiotherapists routinely assess treat Rectus Divarification + Pelvic Floor dysfunction, but there are few really good + safe training systems out there that not only help both these issues long-term but also cover nutrition, posture retraining, general strength and fitness work too – MUTU really is a complete holistic package. My patients frequently go on to use it after they have finished treatment with me and love how it takes them to the next level and how it is completely possible to do – even with a baby (or 4!) at home and minimal time on their hands. I can’t recommend it more.”

Emma Brockwell

Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist, The Halos Clinic, Surrey, UK

“I work with postnatal women every day, most of whom are keen to return to exercise but have pelvic floor dysfunction, back pain or diastasis recti. MUTU system is a truly fabulous programme. It demonstrates safe exercises based on strengthening the core for postnatal mums with lots of evidence based information. The exercises are easy to follow, effective and progressive. Wendy’s dedication and service to the ‘MUTU Mamas’ is constantly reflected in her frequent Q and A sessions which are accessible to each and every member and are no doubt invaluable. As a Women’s Health Physiotherapist it is great to finally have a programme that I can confidentially and frequently recommend to my clients.”

“I love MUTU system and have recommended it to many of my postnatal mums as well as friends and family over the years. As a postnatal mum wanting to get back into exercise it can be really confusing and overwhelming when looking into the most appropriate exercise after having a baby, and not everything that is branded as being suitable for postnatal mums always is. Wendy’s MUTU system is brilliant! It covers much of the science and key things that mums need to be aware of in order to ensure an optimal return to fitness post baby. It’s a wonderful compliment to women’s health physiotherapy and a great example of holistic women’s health!”
Sarah Crosby | Medical review of MUTU System

SARAH CROSBY

Women’s Health Physiotherapist at Crystal Palace Physio Group in South East London

“As a Women’s Health Physiotherapist it’s great to have such a positive programme to refer mums to. The principles of the programme encompass all health aspects of the post-natal period. The exercises are simple to follow and easy to perform at home requiring minimal equipment. The phased exercise programme allows the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to strengthen after the physical strains of pregnancy and childbirth in a sensible manner, promoting closure of a rectus abdominus diastasis and improved core strength to help resolve and prevent lower back and pelvic girdle pain. Wendy has a wealth of knowledge on the changes to your body after pregnancy and childbirth and her approach is not only evidence based but very motivational. Often mums don’t know where to start on getting back to exercise after having a baby and MUTU System is a great place to start. I don’t hesitate to recommend this programme to my patients.”

“I am a great advocate of the MUTU system and often recommend it to my clients who are recovering from diastasis rectus abdominis after I have adjusted their technique. It is empowering, provides a wealth of sound evidence-based information including alignment, posture, breathing and nutrition, and the exercises are effective, progressive and functional – allowing women to build core strength safely. The perfect postnatal rehabilitation before returning to full fitness.”
