Clinical Trial with NNUH NHS University Hospital Foundation Trust

MUTU System worked in partnership with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) Women’s Health Physiotherapy department to get MUTU to patients during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. 110 expectant and new mothers participated in the programme, between April-July 2020, to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of digital postpartum care from MUTU during and after the pandemic.

Results revealed:

96% of women saw improvement in bladder weakness

91% saw diastasis recti improvement

95% felt better about their body function

76% of women claimed to feel physically stronger

59% felt more self-confident and mentally stronger

100% of respondents who couldn’t locate their pelvic floor muscles prior to starting MUTU, could do so by week 3 of MUTU

100% of Trial participants with prolapse symptoms saw an improvement by Week 3 of MUTU

90% of those experiencing pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse, saw improvement by Week 9, and 93% by Week 12.

Lucy Eggleton, Women’s Health specialist Physiotherapist led the trial in partnership with Wendy Powell, Founder at MUTU.

“The COVID-19 situation meant that the Women’s Health Physiotherapy Team have been unable to carry out face-to-face appointments with vulnerable patients…”

“The pandemic this year made it impossible for us to see our patients face-to-face, so it was brilliant to be able to team up with Wendy and the MUTU System to be able to run this clinical trial. ”

“It has been great to see so many women have found relief from these symptoms through participating in the MUTU programme alongside physiotherapy and moving forwards this will be a programme we are happy to support and refer our patients onto.”

“It’s so great that even in a time of such difficulty when so many new mothers have felt isolated and unsupported, we were able to join with Wendy and the team to offer this programme. We have been so pleased with the feedback and results, seeing women restored back to full health and function.”
